On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, “Feminists for Jina” organized a global day of action in different cities around the world. Visit our Instagram page for images and videos of that day.

The call published by the network reads:

Since September 2022, when morality police killed Jina (Mahsa) in Iran, protests have erupted in the streets. Her name became our symbol of protest and symbol of the liberation of our bodies, for the right to choose what we wear and against the systemic violence of the state and police brutality that is killing women, trans, and non-binary people. Her name became our revolutionary symbol to eradicate poverty and oppression in marginalized regions of Kurdistan, Baluchestan, Azerbaijan and Khouzestan and for freedom and equality.

In response, the patriarchal state of the Islamic Republic has once again resorted to mass murder. It has wounded, jailed, and killed protesters, including children. And yet the unstoppable power of “Jin, Jian, Azadi/ Woman, life, freedom” gives us the strength to continue the struggle on the streets in Iran and across the world, but also feeds our bodies and souls. This slogan, with roots in a liberation movement in Kurdistan, has lit up a feminist revolution in Iran. And now, we see it as the bridge of solidarity between all women and oppressed genders worldwide.

On November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the day that three Mirabal sisters were assassinated in the Dominican Republic, we come together in the streets with all other freedom fighters to be a united voice of resistance to all forms of gender-based violence and all forms of oppression. Our solidarity will bring “No one is free until we are all free” into reality.

Friends and comrades, this call for action is not just to support Jina’s revolution in Iran but to join hands and voices in a struggle connected to our past, present, and future. A struggle to eliminate violence against women, and any form of gender-based violence, anywhere in the world, by any state and government. This is a fight for Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Woman, life, freedom).
